Northumbrian Pipers’ Society Events newsmail – June 2015

Welcome!  We hope there’s something of interest here for you.

If you are unable to see pictures in this email please click here to view it online

This month we have details of a new group in South Devon meeting on 17th June.

Details below – all best wishes for a successful group and some great music!

And another Cumberland Arms session organised by Andy May – tonight, 1st June, at 8!

YPG 4 Tips!

The Young Pipers Initiative, who now have the name YPG 4Tips! welcomes new young players.  This new group has monthly meetings with visiting tutors, has had successful public appearances already and will be performing at the Woodhorn Miners’ Picnic on 13th June. Please put any young pipers who would like to join this enthusiastic group in touch with Fiona Johnstone at fiona.johnstone@northumberland.gov.uk or Danielle Burn on dburn@woodhorn.org.uk

This one is especially for those of you who are also members of choirs!  James Dunlop (the composer) writes: hopefully this is of interest to yourself and your choir. Please refer to the link for details of a new and unique opportunity in the world of British choral music along with Northumbrian piper Alice Burn.  You have the opportunity to commission, dedicate and name choral works on the Ascension album with the Portsmouth Cathedral Choir, due for release in November this year. Please find the link here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jamesdunlop/ascension-a-new-contemporary-choral-album.  James would very much appreciated you publicizing the Ascension project with your choir to help it achieve success with the Kickstarter campaign, which has just gone live.

We are very pleased to report that volunteer pipers and groups are in demand to entertain Northumberland’s visitors and tourists.

Seaton Sluice Harbour Day  needs pipers to play on 11th July – if you can help, please contact Steve Walmsley on s.walmsley60@brinternet.com
