Cleveland Branch Meetings

Date: 8 July 2015
Summary: Second Wednesday Every Month
Details:

Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Ceddesfeld Hall Community Centre, Rectory Row, Sedgefield. TS21 2AE, County Durham, which is behind the parish church.The main meeting starts at 8.00pm in the main hall. This is an excellent venue with great acoustics and has been the Cleveland Branch home for many years now. The December meetings include our annual Christmas meal as well as the usual playaround sessions. If you are in the area do come along and join our friendly group to play or listen to the wide variety of tunes. Everyone, in turn, gets the opportunity to choose the tunes to be played if they wish

Cleveland Branch Practice

The Cleveland Branch Playing Group meet every 4th Wednesday of the month for practice upstairs at Ceddesfeld Hall, Rectory Row, Sedgefield. TS21 2AE, County Durham at 7pm till about 9pm.

The playing group are a very active group with the aim of taking the Northumbrian Smallpipes and Northumbrian music out to the public. We usually have very busy year and have performed at many events such as festivals, National Garden scheme events, concerts, weddings, schools and fetes.

 Pipers are very welcome to join us and play, though tunes and discussions are restricted to the playing group repertoire.

NPS at Wallington Hall 2015

There has been a tradition of Northumbrian pipe playing at Wallington since the days of Jack Armstrong and Patricia Jennings. Last year a record number of pipers turned up at the NPS Wallington Hall event. We hope to better that this year, so please come along and enjoy.

Wed Nov 13 - Cleveland Branch Meeting - Ceddesfeld Hall, Rectory Road, Sedgefield. 8pm. All welcome to join us and play or just listen to the pipes. Beginners Lessons upstairs 7-8pm.

 

Sat Nov 16 - NPS Main Branch Meeting - The Chantry, Morpeth from 2:30pm. The Cleveland Branch have been invited to lead the Society meeting at the Chantry. We look forward to this event.

 

Wed Nov 27 - Cleveland Branch Playing Group Practice - Ceddesfeld Hall, Rectory Road, Sedgefield. 7pm. All pipers welcome to come and join us though discussions and playing will be restricted to the playing group repetoire.

 

Fri Nov 29 - Switching on the Christmas tree lights - Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle. The Cleveland Branch Players have, once again, been invited to play at Bowes Museum to help the Friends of Bowes Museum to celebrate their switching on of the Christmas tree lights. Times and details to be confirmed.

Sun Dec 8 - Durham City Traditional Christmast Festival -This year The Cleveland Branch Playing Group will be playing at the official Durham City Christmas Festival instead of the Gates Centre.

 
We have two spots and times to cover: -
 
  • 1.30 to 2pm - Durham Market Place
  • 2.30 to 3.15pm Durham Palace Green

We'll be playing in a marquee at both venues

 

Wed Dec 11 - Cleveland Branch Meeting, Ceddesfeld Hall, Rectory Road, Sedgefield. 8pm. - The Cleveland Branch has as part of our assets, seven assorted cups and shields which were competed for in the past at various festivals which no longer take place. Rather than leaving them to gather dust and be forgotten, for fun and entertainment only, we are organising as part of the usual Christmas Party 'Piping for Prizes'  where the various cups and sheilds will awarded to any Cleveland Branch member willing to take part in this fun event. We will be having our usual meeting play-around and Christmas meal.

 

Visitors will be most welcome to join us to play or just listen to the pipes and music. For further information, contact the secretary (details above)  and let him know so we can organise the food. They will be no beginners class before this meeting.

 

 

Wed Dec 25 - Christmas Day - Merry Christmas everyone. Obviously no playing group practice today. The playing group have a rest in December but we will be back bright eyed and bushy tailed in January.
