I decided to update my facilities and found this digital manometer. I have one on order and will report on it when I have tried it.

Looks good. What's the cost of this thing?

About £43 including postage
You can get it for £35 from Ebay but it comes from Hong Kong and would possibly attract VAT and Import Duty

I have had a digital manometer for quite a few years. It's the type used by gas fitters. These are normally several hundred pounds (or they were) because of the calibration certificate required for gas-fitting, but mine was sold for about £50 without a certificate. It's great, I put it next to the tuner so that I can read both at once.
Having said that, I do the great majority of my tuning just by playing and listening, after I have confirmed the actual pitch with the meter.

Yes
I have been using it for a few weeks now and it is proving really useful It works very reliably and resolves to 0.01"WG - too accurate really - but, for the development work I have been doing on the Drone and Chanter reeds it is really good.
I haven't had it plugged into full set yet as I am focusing on the reed testing rig. I have just published my first results although it is early days yet

Mike, can you post the source of this manometer?

. . . . and since the subject is migrating from the original manometer topic, should the reed-testing content merit a new topic heading? As an inexperienced forum user, I ask what is the best way to marshall these various themes of enquiry? We probably need some subdivision of the pipemaking area.

I got mine from:-

But they can be sourced from Ebay at a slight saving

Mike,

Thanks for providing the source of the manometer.

Interesting to see the published account of the reed testing procedure facilitated by this manometer, together with your table of results.

Have you considered recording additional dimensions which would add value to these interesting findings?
I'd suggest combined blade thickness at tip (not the only significant aspect but the easiest measurable) as well as tip aperture. Both those seem to me to be of equal significance to your other dimensions in recording reed characteristics.
