Contra Bass D drone

Postby Seth » Wed Feb 25, 2015 4:17 pm

Has any of you fellas made one of these double bass drones? I've done them for Smallpipes to pair with my Low d smallpipe chanters but I can't find an example, video/audio, of a NSP set with a Low Octave Drone. I have a passion for depth in volume in my piping.

Thanks, Seth

I have made a number of sets with a contra-bass F as a fifth drone. It enhances the sound without adding too much to the overall volume.
I don't find it necessary to use a triple bored section for F, I probably would for lower pitches.
There are arguments for and against a contra-bass, obviously it adds weight and bulk.
