John Armstrong of Carrick

Did he compose any well known tunes? Any at all?

FARNE attributes him The Warksburn Waltz (I think by Whinham)
and Bracken Rigg by Jack Armstrong.

Are there any correctly attributed tunes by him?

I have no knowledge of any tunes composed by John Armstrong of Carrick. I have e-mailed Margaret Watchorn to ask whether she has any information.

The Charlton Memorial Tunebook, published by the NPS in 1956 is based largely on his manuscript book. The introduction says that 88 of the 112 tunes in that book come from his manuscript book. Had he composed any tunes, I for one, would expect him to write them in his manuscript book and I think that the compilers of the CMTB would include at least one out of politeness.
