online newsletter photos

Postby armstrongpiper » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:32 pm

My computer doesn't allow me to view the photos in the newsletter. Anyone able to tell me how I can fix this, please? My emails come via Outlook express. I use Internet Explorer/Google as my Browser. Desktop runs Windows XP, and laptop windows 8.1.

Yet another Newsletter email arrives, and I still can't see half of the content. I've asked questions and waited for answers, but nothing came. Please, someone, suggest something. My computer laptop is a bog standard thing, using Windows 8, which is not uncommon these days. Does anyone else use a similar set-up, and succeed where mine doesn't?

It looks like the HTML in the newsletter is coming out slightly wrong. In particular the IMG elements say stuff like

Code: Select all
<img src="http:/www.northumbrianpipers.org.uk/uploads/images/Email%20images/NPS%20Oct/image005.gif"/>

instead of

Code: Select all
<img src="http://www.northumbrianpipers.org.uk/uploads/images/Email%20images/NPS%20Oct/image005.gif"/>

(Note "http://" in second, "http:/" in first). Here are links to the images that were intended to be sent:

Thanks for the reply, Edric. Unfortunately, I don't know what to do with the information you give. Is the change in the address something I or my computer has any control over, or is it arising from the sender's end?

Unfortunately this appears to be a problem at the sender's end somewhere, so there's not much you can do about it.

Odd... we had no problem viewing the images in Thunderbird. Don't know how to find the HTML since it's not a web page (??)

I don't have any problem viewing pictures in other emails, only the Society newsletters. It's possibly a setting in Outlook Express, but I don't know how to access these, or what to look for. Awaiting response from Webmaster.

Have never had a response from the Webmaster despite several requests. I assume, therefore, that he doesn't know the answer.
