This Bulletin Board (BB) is a forum for discussion of matters related to the Northumbrian Pipes and is hosted by the Northumbrian Pipers' Society. The term Northumbrian Pipes is generally taken to include the Northumbrian Smallpipes and the Northumbrian Half-Long pipes which also go under the names of Lowland pipes, or Border Pipes. We occasionally receive enquiries from those who assume that we are a society for Northumbrian players of the Scottish or Great Highland Bagpipes. This is not the case. However, the style of Scottish Smallpipes developed at the end of the twentieth century is heavily dependent on the technology which was preserved and developed within the Northumbrian piping community and those visitors interested in the Scottish Smallpipes may find some useful information here.

This BB is moderated. This means that there are users who are willing to take on the responsibility of ensuring that posts are acceptable to an 'average' user. It is not that we do not wish to impose any sort of censorship on views expressed (heaven forfend) but rather that we wish to see the views expressed in a manner which encourages discussion. Currently, visitors who have not registered as users may view some of the forums.

Visitors are encouraged to register as users of the Forum. This will enable them to post to to forums.
