Interesting reading as I've just experienced 'neck resonance' as described by Barry. A chanter and reed played fine in one bag, but when moved to another cut using the same bag template and from the same leather the tuning was a long way out and the set 'felt' hard to play as if at a higher pressure (although using a manometer revealed that the pressure was no higher via the drone). The only difference was the length of the chanter stock. I removed the stock and cut it down to match the length of the one in the 'good' bag and that solved the problems. Whether it's 'neck resonance' or something else, this supports earlier findings.
