SUMMARY:57th Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering 25-27 April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Jamie Allan\nThis event has been an important feature in our calendar for a long time. It is described as \nAn exciting three-day annual festival of street entertainment\, indoor events\, music\, dance\, craft\, dialect\, heritage and traditional fun – always held the weekend after Easter in the medieval market town of Morpeth\, 14 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne. \nThere are usually several piping events on the Saturday. Full programme http://www.northumbriana.org.uk/gathering/docs/2025prog.pdf \nCompetitions are expected to be held in the Chantry Museum on Saturday. \, 1.15pm for 1.45. Competition tickets for entrants/audience £2/£1.50 includes free entry to exhibition \nMeet the pipers. Chantry Museum Sat 10-10.45 \nPipes & Border pipes Session\, 8pm Conservative club \nBagpipe Allsorts Sunday 11-12 Chantry Museum £3/£1 \nNorthumbrian Ranters youth folk ensemble St James Centre Sunday 2.15-3.15 £5/£2 \n“We’re hoping to raise enough money to have the full Saturday procession as in past years (who’d like to join Robson’s Choice in the parade?)\, with a crowdfunding campaign and patrons’ scheme to attract support\, since it’s become so much more expensive and logistically complex to sustain the festival in recent times.
