SUMMARY:Piping at the Ovingham Goose Fair
DESCRIPTION:There has been a long standing tradition of Northumbrian Piping at Ovingham Goose Fair\, and the organisers are looking forward to the return of the pipers. So we hope lots of Northumbrian pipers will turn up with our pipes!\n\nThe organisers have asked us once again to lead the procession. The event starts officially at 12.00 but please arrive earlier if you are taking part in the procession.  This year it will be starting in Ovingham Community Orchard which is just around the corner from the village green. It would be ideal if any pipers who can be in the procession could congegrate there from 11.20am – 11:30am as the procession starts at 11:45am.\n\nThe village lies between Newcastle and Corbridge\, on the banks of the Tyne. The event is organised by the Ovingham reading room and will have a procession\, dancers\, a brass band\, food and fun for all.

SUMMARY:Cathedral and Curry!
DESCRIPTION:Following the huge success that was last year’s playaround in the refectory of St Nicholas’ Cathedral (followed by curry) – we will repeat the event again this year! \nSaturday November 25th from 1:30pm – Cafe 16\, St Nicholas Cathedral\, Newcastle. All ages and abilities are welcome\, the afternoon will again take the form of a playaround which gives everyone the opportunity to choose a set of tunes (should they wish)! Listeners are also welcome and everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the selection of hot meals\, sweet treats and beverages provided by Cafe 16. \nFollowing the session\, there will be an opportunity to join together for curry at the nearby Raj Tandoori on Pudding Chare from 5:30pm. Last year there was a slight break between the session and the curry\, however the Bridge Hotel is nearby so there will be an opportunity for a pint or the chance to explore the Christmas Market. \nThe itinerary is as follows;\n1pm – meet at refectory for tea/ coffee\n1:30pm – Playaround\n4:30pm – Refectory close\n5:30pm – Curry at Raj Tandoori\, 25 – 27Pudding Chare\, Newcastle\, NE11UF \nThere is no need to book for the session however I do need to have an indication of numbers for the curry house by Wednesday November 22nd.

SUMMARY:East of England Pipeworks
DESCRIPTION:We’re really pleased that we’re going to be running another East of England Pipeworks Day at Bar Hill\, just outside Cambridge\, on 19 November. It will be a great opportunity to meet old friends\, make new friends and play lots of music together. \nAs in past\, pre-Covid\, days there will be play-around sessions (so bring your tune books and suggestions of tunes we can play together) and themed sessions led by members of the Cambridge piping group. In addition Francis Wood will be available to give 1-1 or small group support to anyone who would like it. \nWe’ll provide teas and coffees\, but bring your own lunch\, or pop round to the nearby fish and chip shop. There is also a large Tesco’s nearby.\nWe can collect people from Cambridge North railway station if you plan to come from London by train (and take them back at the end of the day). There’s a train that leaves Kings Cross at 9.42\, due at Cambridge North at 10.39 that would be suitable. \nThe cost for the day will be £10 per person. \nTo book a place please contact David Somerville at dsomerv@aol.com or telephone 01223 290890.\nPlease let David know if you would like to be collected from Cambridge North station at 10.39.
