Northumbrian Pipes are not manufactured on an industrial basis as with many other instruments. They are made by a small number of gifted individuals in small workshops. Individual makers have their own particular styles, though many are influenced by historical makers and models.
The Society is currently developing a series of in-depth films looking at prominent pipemakers. The first of these films is now available on our YouTube channel and features bellows maker Tom Swinney.
