On the Music manuscripts page there is a document created by Dave McQuade, who sadly died recently. It includes Forster Charlton’s musical compositions and arrangements, with notes and memorabilia from Dave.
There is also a paper on the Manuscripts and Documents page by GVB Charlton on “The Northumbrian Bag-Pipes” which includes a lot of historical material.
On the Historic Recordings page you can hear the playing of Tom Mathews MBE, who was piper to the Duke of Northumberland after Jack Armstrong retired. This was taken from a cassette circulated to some friends. There is also a video.
We are currently trying to get permission to publish some parts of the Forster Charlton Archive on this website. This is a slow process because we need to get clearance from families.
