On the Music Manuscripts page there is a document created by Dave McQuade, who sadly died recently. It includes Forster Charlton’s musical compositions and arrangements, with notes and memorabilia from Dave. There is also a detailed pictorial guide to making a box in the Pipemaking Information section.
There is also a paper on the Manuscripts and Documents page based on a talk about the Northumbrian Pipes given by GVB Charlton in 1927.
Tom Mathews MBE was the Duke of Northumberland’s Piper from 1971 to 1982 We have a recording of his playing in the member’s Historic Recordings section which was taken from a cassette circulated to some friends. There is also a video.
We are currently trying to get permission to publish some parts of the Forster Charlton Archive on this website. This is a slow process because we need to get clearance from families.
