Annual Concert: A Tribute to Colin Ross

It was with great sadness that we noted the passing of Colin Ross. One of the modern legends in the world of Northumbrian Piping and traditional music. His influence has been extraordinary as a musician, maker and teacher. Colin’s enthusiasm for our instrument and its music knew no limits, inspiring countless people to get involved in our wonderful traditions by his encouragement and support. His legacy is immense.

The NPS Annual Concert this year marked this legacy, with great performances from many of the pipers and musicians who both knew and were influenced by him. To finish off the concert there was a mass play of pipes made by Colin – the music played can be downloaded here:

Sunday Session

The concert was followed by a more informal gathering on Sunday afternoon, October 20 upstairs at The North Terrace, 22-26 North Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 4AD.
